The bulge removal die is a Lee Carbide Sizer modified to accommodate the full length of the .500 Bushwhacker cartridge (the decapping assembly is also removed).

If a heavily compressed powder charge does not properly settle in a .500 Bushwhacker case during the charging process, it is likely that the brass will bulge during seating (an excessive crimp can also cause this problem). In this event, simply run the affected cartridge through the bulge removal die (preferably after the crimping operation(s) in order to prevent excessive bullet projection). This will allow the user to chamber and fire the affected round without disturbing bullet size or neck tension. Useful preventative measures for bulged cartridges include utilizing a drop-tube or vibratory tray during charging and/or selecting lower load densities.
